Cypress Employment has a client in West Mobile, AL looking for a Plasma Table Operator.
JOB PURPOSE
Plasma Table Operators are responsible for operating plasma table cutting system by initiating and ending cut programming while monitoring cut quality.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY SUMMARY
The Plasma Table Operator is responsible for operating the plasma table cutting system.
Operates cranes to load, unload, position, and stage material.
Dimensionally verifies material to be processed and records material information on applicable forms.
Operates control panels and monitors cutting operation to achieve desired product.
Matches consumables of cutting equipment to respective material grade and thickness being cut.
Daily maintenance of plasma table cutting system.
Performs hand grinding to prepare materials when needed.
Constantly checks the quality of own work to ensure work meets or exceeds quality standards.
Works safely and maintains work area and equipment with high standards of housekeeping.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Regular and prompt attendance in person.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Education
High school diploma or GED, preferred.
Training from a vocation school or previous employer in the use of the application tools and in the application techniques, preferred.
The ability to successfully complete training programs provided by MYER after recruitment.
Experience
Minimum of 1 year in a steel processing role.
Special Knowledge/Skills
Heating and Cutting – OFC (oxy-fuel)
Ability to use and interpret dimensional verification equipment such as tape measures, dial calipers, digital calipers, outside micrometers, etc.
Ability to multitask as required for other processing operations.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
Basic knowledge of mathematics.
Experience working in a physically demanding environment.
Familiarity with OSHA regulations and good safety practices.
Physical Requirements
Vision: adequate to enter and read printed material. Able to identify markings and digital outputs on calibrated tools. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions.
Hearing: able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation. Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.
Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of tools and equipment including but not limited to arc welding equipment, oxy-fuel cutting equipment, angle grinder, die grinder, plate rolls, angle rolls, overhead crane, jib crane.
Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 50lbs while engaging in training, addressing production issues.
Confined Space: able to enter and exit a within a confined space for various lengths of time.
Heights: able to work at heights of approximately up to 15 feet on various types of platforms and lifts for various lengths of time
Lifting: able to occasionally lift up to 50lbs.
Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items on shop floor.
Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time.
Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or handle items.
Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time.
Walking: able to walk through production areas, around machinery and equipment sometimes on uneven indoor or outdoor surfaces.
