Cypress Employment has a client in West Mobile, AL looking for a Health and Safety Manager.
JOB PURPOSE
Promote worksite safety by applying knowledge of industrial processes, mechanic, and industrial health and safety laws.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY SUMMARY
Inspects the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine causes and preventive measures.
Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections.
Develops health and safety procedures for all areas of the company.
Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment.
Monitors compliance with safety procedures.
Drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings.
Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, regulations, and industrial processes.
Maintains records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required.
Interview employers and employees to obtain information about work environments and workplace incidents.
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
Regular and prompt attendance in person.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Education Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field preferred; experience in lieu of degree may be considered.
Licensure/ CSP, SMS, or comparable certification, preferred.
Credentials
Experience Five years of related experience in fabrication or construction, highly preferred.
Special Extensive knowledge of safety and environmental regulations and policies.
Knowledge/ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficient in technology and equipment used for inspections.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Physical Requirements.
Vision: able to see and utilize fine work tools, computer screens; able to move through the office, production floor, and from point to point to find specific co-workers and in- house experts.
Hearing: able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation. Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and deliver information to groups of varying size.
Equipment Operation: Able to operate standard office equipment (computer, phone, copier, electronic identification card to entire buildings and floors, etc.) and utilized electronic ID to enter buildings.
Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 25lbs when transporting document, printed paper, or similar items.
Lifting: able to occasionally lift up to 50lbs on occasion.
Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull equipment, tools, cart, office chairs, and other office equipment.
Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of times in front of a computer, writing, or participating in meetings.
Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve items stored on low shelving.
Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time in meetings or discussions.
Walking: able to walk through office and production areas, around machinery and equipment sometimes on uneven indoor or outdoor surfaces.
