Overview

ATSS is looking for a Network Administrator for a client in Pascagoula, MS. 
 
GENERAL FUNCTION: Support, configure, maintain and upgrade networks and servers.  Install and integrate new server hardware and applications.  Works under the general direction of the Network and Infrastructure Manager.

 

TYPICAL DUTIES: The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities:

 

Monitor day-to-day IT infrastructure.
Monitor networking equipment and servers.
Oversee troubleshooting for system errors.
Provide helpdesk support for network issues and respond to requests for IT support.
Evaluate connectivity issues, equipment, and software.
Modify configurations, utilities, software, etc.
Determine network needs based on new requirements as defined by departments and/or organization.
Update the systems regularly with antivirus, firewall and spyware to protect the network from viruses and breakdowns.
Set up equipment for new users.
Configure, install and manage IP Office phone system and phones.
Install, test, and monitor servers, firewalls, and new software.
Perform data backups.
Keep an inventory of equipment, software, and licenses.
Support and administer third-party applications.
Ensure network security and connectivity.
Monitor network performance (availability, utilization, throughput, goodput, and latency) and test for weaknesses.
Set up user accounts, permissions and passwords.
Define network policies and procedures.
Specify system requirements and design solutions.
Research and make recommendations on server system administration.
 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: 

 

Ability to deploy, configure, maintain and monitor all active network equipment in order to ensure smooth network operation.   
Ability to provide fast and useful technical assistance.  
Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.   
Be able to communicate effectively to understand the problem and explain its solution.  
Must be customer-oriented and patient to deal with difficult customers.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE & TRAINING: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field plus minimum 3 years’ experience in networking, routing, and switching, firewalls, Internet VPN’s remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution or any equivalent combination of experience and training which results in the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Experience with Cisco products, Network Monitoring Tools, Windows Domain, Domain Name System, Telnet, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, RSA, VMware environment desired.
