Atss is looking for a Deputy Project Engineer for a shipbuilding client in the Pascagoula area. 
GENERAL FUNCTION:  Assists the Project Engineer in coordinating all functional and production design engineering activities for assigned project(s) by providing aid with scheduling and technical direction for team members, monitoring design status and manning by design discipline, and assisting with actions needed to meet the project plan. Reports directly to the Project Engineer.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities.

Works closely with all engineering discipline leads to identify scope, assign responsibilities and assist with ensuring schedule compliance and/or reporting.
Assists with project design kickoff meetings to ensure all disciplines have a clear understanding as to the scope of the contract and estimate premises used for pricing.  Works to identify key events that must occur to move the project design forward, and works to ensure personnel and responsibilities are assigned to meet the events.
Assists in maintaining project design records, class/owner submittals and correspondence files, Purchase Technical Specifications/technical reviews and design status.
Assists with the tracking and integration of all project specific vendor furnished information to support design development.  
Assists in resolving all class and owner design comments and maintains correspondence records.
Attends weekly design meetings to review status and discuss pending issues and maintains the minutes and action items assigned.  
Coordinates resolution of engineering issues.  
Coordinates communication between customer, subcontractors and production.



Excellent interpersonal and motivational skills, strong analytical skills.
Ability to work in a team environment and computer literacy are desired.  
Experience in both Commercial and Military Programs a plus.  
Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, NavisWorks, ABS, DNV, USCG and marine standard practices.

EXPERIENCE & TRAINING: Must have diverse engineering experience and knowledge of shipbuilding and production processes.  Mechanical Engineering Degree required.  Must be able to identify and anticipate engineering and potential production issues.
