ATSS Engineering has a client in Calvert, AL looking for a Process Melting Operations- Steelmaking Specialist.
DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?
The ideal candidate will lead process support for the Melting area in the Steelmaking facility, providing guidance to shift crews to melt steel according to the most up-to-date, state-of-the art procedures, to meet the business goals.
The Basics:
Bachelor’s degree preferred in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field; OR equivalent experience
High school diploma or GED required
Minimum of 5 years of experience working as an engineer, specialist, or similar position in a liquid steel production facility
Basic technical knowledge of melting
Advanced process control knowledge
Strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Computer skills to include SAP and Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint)

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Monitor and evaluate Melt Shop performance, to include production, cost, and quality key performance indictors (KPI’s); Identify appropriate counter measures in case of non-achievement of KPI’s
Ensure Melt Shop operations comply with environmental regulations
Optimize Melt Shop productivity, capacity, energy, and consumption by monitoring industry best practices
Collaborate with Technology team in product development and perform product trials; Provide process expertise to technology team for improvement project implementation
Interface and communicate with maintenance team members and other members of steel making facility, to include EAF, Caster, LMF, RH, and Refractory
Write and update work instructions for Melt Shop operations; Organize related HIRAC review
Take ownership to seek and correct issues generating steel non-quality
Coordinate scrap preparation activities with contractor; Communicate scrap needs to procurement team
Lead and support continuous improvement activities
Update Melt Shop process parameters according to last update of grade practice sheet and to optimizes productivity, capacity, energy and consumption
Demonstrate and promote AM/NS Calvert Purpose and Values: Safety, Teamwork, Accountability, Relationships, and Sustainability
Lead/participate in incident root cause analysis and corrective actions for failures, to include safety incidents, environmental deviations, quality deviations and production losses

Office and Industrial setting in the Steel Making facility
During first ~2 years, Construction setting
Gulf coast region in Calvert, AL
Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads
