ATSS Engineering has a client in Calvert, AL looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Specialist HDGL & FL 1.
 
The Specialist position is responsible for analysis of production disturbances in cooperation with other maintenance and production personnel, as well as troubleshooting unscheduled maintenance issues. The Specialist will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for designated mechanical equipment and lead lean manufacturing initiatives. The Specialist is responsible for researching, developing, and coordinating Work Orders through completion, which includes working with various team members to ensure parts availability, refurbishing follow up, support management with leadership of dayshift Asset Mechanics and budget tracking.

 

The Basics:

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field OR High School Diploma and 5+ years of experience in heavy industrial environment OR combination of post-secondary education and related experience
Able to prepare and dictate detailed and in-depth job criteria and functional expectations for complex projects when needed
Demonstrates strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Demonstrates strong critical thinking and visualization skills
Able to handle a fast-paced environment, with strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
 Knowledge of heavy industrial equipment maintenance
Technical knowledge & ability to troubleshoot + maintain:
     o Water pumps & circulating systems
     o Rotational equipment, such as mechanical power transmission, drive shafts, bearings, couplings, rollers, conveyors
     o Hydraulic systems, i.e., cylinders, servo valves, piping, hose connections, filtration
     o Lubrication systems, such as centralized oil and grease systems, lubrication practices
Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint)
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and general computer proficiency
 

The Extras:

5+ years of experience in maintenance or project engineering in a heavy industrial environment preferred
Working knowledge of SAP preferred
Working knowledge of maintenance data trending software (IBA) is preferred
Experience using AutoCAD

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies, completing inventory risk assessments / requests.
Support scheduling, planning and lead the execution of short and long-term maintenance activities.
Leads LOTO efforts for downtime events and outages and is also responsible for annual ECP reviews.
Is responsible for PM execution and creation, quality review of PM results, EXP alarm and criteria generation, new PM development when needed and for securing cost and availability for effective preventive maintenance.
Is responsible for ensuring the workflow, which includes gatekeeping, backlog review, proper notifications entered by asset mechanics, proper work execution, quality inspections during work execution.

YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT

Office and Industrial setting in the Hot Strip Mill.
Gulf coast region in Calvert, AL.
Outages and Pitstops (typically twice per month) are expected at 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM for 1 to 2 days.
Semi-Annual Outages (typically twice per year) are expected to be 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM for at least 6 consecutive days, likely though a weekend as well.
