ATSS Engineering has a client in Calvert, AL looking for a a Construction Manager.

The Construction Manager, Steelmaking Projects supports the current and future Steelmaking Capital Projects.  The person will give direction to current and future Construction services suppliers by supervising the Construction, Erection and Installation function.  In addition, the Construction Manager will work closely with the Engineering Manager to ensure the lowest total cost of ownership and highest quality of the project by reviewing materials, specifications and constructability of drawings and submittals.

The Basics:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or similar
10+ years of Prior Construction Management experience in Heavy Industrial Projects; Experience working with EPCM or General Contractor managed sites; 15+ years of total Construction or Engineering experience
Construction or Engineering background with Steel or Aluminum mill
Experience managing EPCM or EPC Construction activities on large (>$500MM Projects)

The Extras:

Experience dealing in a Global supply chain, with overseas OEM suppliers
SAP knowledge a plus
Masters and/or MBA preferred
Steelmaking experience preferred
Experience as an Owner’s Representative or Construction Manager on the Owner’s Team highly desirable

Manage the performance of all Project Construction Team resources; this will include limited Construction Staff, EPCM/EPC Construction Management staff and outside Contractors and Construction Service providers.
Develop KPIs and EV Tracking and other deliverables for the various Construction groups; then monitor and ensure those KPIs are being met or exceeded
Review the Constructability of the entire project
Act as Project Manager as required when Project Manager is absent
Lead or attend all Construction related meetings, with all Project teams; this will include Project Kickoff Meetings, Design Review Meetings, OEM Technical Contract discussions and other meetings (Domestic and International) as required
Act as the Construction Management resource for all Construction related questions; supply unbiased Construction / Constructability opinions with respect to costs, design, cost-benefits decisions, and other complex decisions
