Overview
ATSS is currently looking for a Senior Product Development Engineer for Utility located in Baldwin Co, Bay Minette AL.
As a Product Development Engineer, you will be responsible for the design of new products and the implementation of product improvements, cost reductions, and product issue resolution efforts for the medical office equipment product line which would include; medical chairs, lights, medical units and other related medical operatory equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Marketing and other Engineering support areas to provide input into product ideas under consideration for development
Develop new product concepts or revisions to existing products based on direction from Product Management
Lead product development effort from concept through test, FDA submission and product launch
Oversee the work of Designers to develop cost effective and superior designs
Perform design calculations and research materials for safe, durable and cost effective designs
Write test protocols, conduct testing for design verification and compile validation reports
Assist manufacturing with production problems relating to product design
Performing DFMA and FMEA and risk analysis
Evaluate product/production problems and recommend corrective action to the Engineering Manager
Provide technical support for existing products to internal and external customers
Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Physical Sciences
5+ years electro-mechanical design experience
Experience designing products within a manufacturing environment with project leadership responsibility
Understanding of mechanical systems including fits, clearances and tolerances who also has working knowledge of pneumatic principals
Experience within an FDA registered facility or thorough knowledge of stage gate product development and/or ISO 9000/9001
Strong knowledge of machined products quality assurance standards, fits and the ability to interpret mechanical drawings accurately including appropriate use of GD&T
Must be a resourceful, self-starter who posses the able to work with minimum supervision
Must have experience systematizing process flows for improved efficiency
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions
Must have strong oral and written communication skills including a high level of organization and planning
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Pro-Engineer, AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat and Oracle
