Overview
ATSS has a client in Mobile, AL looking for a Buyer.
Performs procurement functions including placing and expediting purchase orders and responding to problems relating to purchased material and products.
Essential job duties include:
· Responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors.
· Responsible for ordering and coordinating rental equipment.
· Responsible for negotiating and coordinating subcontract purchase orders in conjunction with Project Managers.
· Evaluates vendor quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers.
· Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
· Gain familiarity with end use of assigned commodities for purpose of possible alternative materials and specifications.
· Resolve material, delivery/shortages/returns and pricing discrepancies.
· Interviews vendors to ascertain suppliers’ competitiveness and performance. Recommends additions and deletions of vendors to/from vendor roster.
· Monitors inventory for appropriate balance between adequate and over-supply.
· Resolves issues with suppliers and company manufacturing personnel about material returns, shortages or quality by renegotiating price, replacement or back charges.
HSEQ Roles and Responsibilities include the following:
• Comply with all relevant statutory, legal, industry, and client HSEQ regulations including the international standards of ISO 9001:2015
• Utilize effective tools and software to manage the company’s HSEQ initiatives (EHS Insight)
• Hold leaders accountable for HSEQ performance
• Communicate to the workforce the standards for working safe
• Define clear & concise quality objectives throughout the organization
• Develop the required training to ensure the workforce is equipped for success
• Collaborate between company employees, contractors, and clients to assess and control the risks associated with planned and ongoing work
• Maintain an objective measurement system for ongoing evaluation to assess HSEQ performance and our processes to constantly improve and establish best practices
2.0 EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
· May require a bachelor’s degree or experience in the field or in a related area.
3.0 KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily demonstrate the following:
· Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
· Technical understanding of American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and ASTM material grade standards.
· Knowledge of material planning.
· Computer skills with general knowledge of Windows and other database applications.
· Generate effective communications, good relations and a positive image with suppliers, customers and coworkers.
· Promote courtesy, objectivity and fairness.
